Dow Chemical CEO to head Trump council, pledges new Michigan R&D center
Dow Chemical (NYSE:DOW) CEO Andrew Liveris is named by Pres.-elect Trump to head the Manufacturing Council, a private sector group that advises the U.S. secretary of commerce.
Liveris, introduced by Trump at a campaign-style rally in Grand Rapids, Mich., also announces plans for a new R&D center in Michigan that will include 200 jobs, 100 of which will be newly created and 100 to be “repatriated” from other Dow facilities around the world.
“We believe the incoming Presidential administration understands the importance of R&D investment and its multiplier impact on U.S. manufacturing jobs,” Liveris says.
