New York, NY (September 29, 2016) – Soft-Tex International is the first company in the world to achieve the CertiPUR-US® program’s new certification for molded foam products.

Until now, CertiPUR-US® certification has existed for slabstock flexible polyurethane foam, but not for molded flexible polyurethane foam products. Soft-Tex was among the companies invited to participate in the beta phase of the new certification which launched just a few months ago.

The criteria for certification includes standards for content, emissions and durability and require testing by independent, accredited laboratories.

To be CertiPUR-US®-certified, molded polyurethane foams must be made without ozone depleters; PBDE, TDCPP, TCEP and certain other flame retardants; formaldehyde; mercury, lead and other heavy metals; prohibited phthalates regulated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission; and are low VOC emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million).

“We are honored to have worked with CertiPUR-US® on this important program that benefits  consumers and we are excited that our technical expertise and commitment to quality enabled us to achieve certification so quickly,” said Soft-Tex Executive Vice President John Beliveau.

Soft-Tex International is a manufacturer of memory foam pillows, bed toppers, and mattresses as well as fiber pillows & toppers, mattress pads and protectors. The company has a factory in Waterford, NY and distribution points in Southern California and Charleston, SC. The company’s brand names include Sensorpedic®, Biopedic®, and Dream Smart®. www.soft-tex.com
