Asian Polyol Market Update

PUdaily, Shanghai—According to PUdaily, the polyether polyols market in Southeast Asia and India runs with fierce competition with so many polyether polyols manufacturers swarming in including SCG-Dow, Shell Singapore and some others from China, Japan and South Korea. Price war happens frequently among these manufacturers due to the oversupply and weak demands in the local market, and also, the global economic recession makes the situation worse. PUdaily lists polyether polyols exports to Southeast Asia and India from China, South Korea and Japan for your reference.

China has exported 74,000 tons of polyether polyols to Southeast Asia and India from Jan. to May this year, up by 64.5% when compared to 24,000 tons of exports in 2015. In May, 2016, China exports 16,099 tons of polyether polyols, up by 10.6% quarter on quarter and up by 61.6% year on year. (more details please refer to the table below: Tons)

South Korea’s polyether polyols exports totaled 113,000 tons in 2015, among which the exports to Southeast Asia and India were 87,000 tons, nearly taking 80% of the total. In 2016, about 43,000 tons of polyether polyols have been exported to Southeast Asia and India during the first 5 months, which is basically flat to that during the same period in 2015. In May, 2016, South Korea has exported 8,502 tons to that market, slightly up by 1.6% year on year but down by 14.2% quarter on quarter. (more details please refer to the table below: Tons)

Japan exported 16,000 tons of polyether polyols (HS Code: 390720) in 2015, among which the exports to Southeast Asia and India were 3,045 tons. In 2016, Japan has exported 1,362 tons to that market, up by 13.4% year on year. (more details please refer to the table below: Tons)
