BASF : Stops Ludwigshafen Polyurethane Production Due to Low Water Levels on the Rhine

By Donato Paolo Mancini

BASF SE (BAS.XE) said Monday that it is temporarily stopping production of a polyurethane component at its Ludwigshafen site because of low water levels on the river Rhine.

Toluene diisocyanate, or TDI, production will stop because of supply issues, despite a “maximum shift” to alternative transportation means, BASF said.

The resumption of production is dependent on the water level in the Rhine, the company said.

BASF said it’s in contact with its customers regarding the issue.
