Covestro Declares Force Majeure for Various Product Lines in North America

Due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey on its Baytown and Channelview, Texas, facilities, Covestro LLC has declared Force Majeure regarding its ability to supply the following products in North America:

•Methyl Diisocyanate (MDI)
•Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI)
•Polyols
•Liquid caustic soda 50%
•Hydrochloric acid 36%
•Hexamethylene Diisocyanate (HDI) and their corresponding derivatives
•Isophorone Diisocyanate (IPDI) and their corresponding derivatives
•H12MDI (Desmodur® W)
•Selected pre-polymers
•Polyaspartics

These materials are used to manufacture products for a variety of industries, including automotive, building and construction, furniture and appliance.

At this time, Covestro’s polycarbonate products are not included in the Force Majeure declaration.

The safety of employees is Covestro’s first priority, and the company is actively assessing the personal situations of employees most impacted by the storm.
