HIGH POINT — Bedding producers here say they’ve gotten some unwelcome news lately: Foam prices are going up, substantially.

In response, some producers are shifting to non-foam constructions, including coil-edge designs and latex models.

The producers say they’ve recently gotten double-digit foam price hikes, which come on top of two foam price hikes earlier this year. Collectively the foam increases this year come to about 24% to 28%, they said.A recent 15% foam increase is going to lead to higher wholesale bedding prices, said Gerry Borreggine, president of Top 10 producer Therapedic. “That’s a price increase we can’t swallow.”
