HSM CoolActive foams for mattressesMattress industry supplier HSM, with headquarters in Hickory, North Carolina, has launched CoolActive “transitional foams,” containing phase-change material and other technologies. Available in three formulations, the new bedding foams are designed to “cool and diffuse body heat throughout the night,” a news release said. The foams are designed to be used singly, or in layers, to create “a custom temperature combination.”

CoolActive is “a functionally modified visco-elastic foam containing PCM particles” with 25% better “heat transference,” or heat dissipation, than visco-elastic foam of the same density without additives, the company said. CoolActive Gel combines PCM with Cargill’s BiOH Gel particles (made with polyols from a renewable resource), said to have 35% better thermal transference. CoolActive GraphX2 is “a deluxe, modified memory foam” with graphite, PCM and 40% better thermal transference, as well as flame-retardant characteristics, HSM said.

According to Todd Councilman, HSM vice president of bedding solutions, “The choice of three transitional foams gives customers the opportunity to create a custom temperature combination using a single foam or layered system. To meet a variety of customer requirements, the foam is available in block, topper, slit roll, bed-build and completed mattresses.”

More information about CoolActive is available at a new website, www.coolactivefoam.com.
