U.S. mattress sales dropped again in the third quarter of 2017, compared with the same three-month period in 2016, according to Bedding Market Quarterly, a sales trend report (paywall). The report is published by the International Sleep Products Association, the mattress industry trade group, and provides quarterly and year-to-date mattress market data obtained from a large percentage of the U.S. bedding industry.
Sales of mattresses and foundations fell by 10.3%, and wholesale revenues decreased by 6.4%, compared with the same quarter last year. The average unit price increased by 4.4%.
