Pearl price rises due to HCFC-141b shortages and 2026 phase out

United Arab Emirates, 6 November 2025: Pearl Polyurethane Systems has started implementing relevant price increases of its 141b-based systems for Q4 2025, in reaction to the imminent shutdown of supply of the blowing agent from the last remaining sources in China.

The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer foresees a total phase out of the widely-used blowing agent in the UAE by 2030. However, the premature phase out of supply has started to lead to drastic price increases of the raw material, a reflection of its finite supply.

As a leading global provider of polyurethane systems and a change agent in the fight against global warming, Pearl is fully geared toward guiding its customers in choosing the best alternative, ensuring superior product characteristics as well as economics.
