Polyurethane Foam Association Fall Meeting Addresses Key
Industry Issues And Showcases Technical Innovation

Association Emphasizes Industry Advocacy

SAN DIEGO (November 14, 2017)—The Polyurethane Foam Association (PFA) recently
concluded its fall member meeting, which offered a forum for companies in the flexible
polyurethane foam industry to discuss key issues and review new technical developments.
PFA’s two-day meeting in early November brought together more than 120 executives from
foam manufacturers, chemical suppliers, and other companies supporting the industry for in-
depth discussion of issues including flammability, the environment, and industry regulation. Six
technical papers were presented, and an industry issues forum allowed attendees to catch up with
the association’s work over the last six months.

“A question that should be asked of any industry association is ‘are members getting a positive
return on their investment?” said Chip Holton of NCFI Polyurethanes, President of PFA. “With
PFA, the answer is clear: members are definitely getting their money’s worth from
involvement.”

Holton said that within the last year, PFA has helped the industry address critical issues that
could have required significant and expensive changes in foam production. PFA’s advocacy and
its credibility help members quickly and effectively mobilize to protect their interests, “By
working together through PFA, we can have much more impact than individual member
companies working alone,” he said. Holton noted that PFA has effectively built coalitions with
other industry groups, as well as public interest organizations such as firefighters and
environmental advocates.

“We support good science and provide clear communications across industries so flexible
polyurethane foam is properly understood,” Holton said. “This benefits everyone.”
