Wanhua Dedicates U.S. Tech Center

Wanhua Chemicals is pleased to announce the official opening of its North American Technical Center, located in the Woodlands, Texas.

The official ribbon cutting took place on March 29th 2017 at 12:15 p.m., by Dr. Weiqi (Carl) Hua, Wenping Zhang and Dr. Howard Ding from Wanhua Chemicals, Zhencheng Zhou from the Chinese Consulate General in Houston, Shaolin Li from the Houston Chapter of the China Chamber of Commerce – USA, and Gil Staley from The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership.

Headquartered in Yantai, China, Wanhua Chemicals is the world’s largest producer of MDI and a major global producer of ADI. Since first establishing its North American commercial headquarters in the Philadelphia area in 2006, Wanhua has implemented a “Customer First” attitude, firmly establishing itself a major supplier of isocyanates in the North American polyurethane and coatings markets.

Wanhua N.A Technical Center

Wanhua established its North American Technical Center to further enhance its commitment and service to the North American market. This technical center will allow Wanhua Chemicals to provide rapid and local technical service, analytical testing and formulation development servicing multiple and diverse downstream applications. Wanhua will leverage the abundant technical talent and research resources within the US, develop a regional base for technical training, and collaborate with local academic and research institutes and customers.

Nestled in a picturesque and tranquil forest area, The Woodlands, Texas facility is conveniently located within a 25-minute drive from the Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The 13,000 ft2 facility is well-equipped with analytical, development, testing and equipment laboratories and warehouse space and is suitable for future expansion.

The official grand opening celebration was attended by over 80 guests from various key partners, customers and local officials. During the ceremony, Dr. Weiqi (Carl) Hua, Senior VP and CTO of Wanhua Chemicals, gave a short speech highlighting Wanhua’s milestones, global presence and future development strategy. Dr. Hua emphasized that the Wanhua North American Technology Center is a significant footprint in the US and an integral part of Wanhua’s global network of R&D centers.

Dr. Howard Ding, General Manager of Wanhua Performance Chemicals, and Jacob Sturgeon, General Manager of Wanhua America, also welcomed and thanked Wanhua’s valued and loyal customers in North America and committed to continue to develop and strengthen those partnerships for mutual growth and success into the future.

In the Chinese tradition intended to foster good luck and success, the ceremony was capped off with a thunderous Chinese lion dance performance from a local dance troupe.
