Wanhua PO Update

PUdaily, Shanghai-Wanhua Chemical plans to start up its newly-built propylene oxide and polyether polyols plants in Yantai, Shandong province at end June, according to news from the company’s Investor Relations Platform on May 4.

The propylene oxide has capacity of 240,000 tons/year employing PO/Mtbe process from US-based Huntsman, which is also leading manufacturer of MDI and propylene oxide whilst the polyether polyols plant has capacity of 300,000 tons/year, according to the company.

Other manufacturing facilities in this project include 750,000 tons/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH), 300,000 tons/year acrylic acid and acrylic ester and 225,000 tons/year butanol, which are expected to add the company's turnover up to CNY 26 billion in this year.

Wanhua Chemical is the largest MDI manufacturer in the world in terms of capacity and it runs MDI facilities in Yantai, Shandong province and Ningbo, Zhejiang province. Wanhua Rongwei, a subsidiary of Wanhua Chemical, runs 110,000 tons/year polyether polyols plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
