BASF TDI Reactor Photos from March 2

In der Nacht von Donnerstag auf Freitag hat ein Schwerlasttransport den neuen Reaktor für die TDI-Anlage der BASF in Ludwigshafen geliefert. Während der Transport das Werk mit allen Teilen bis Mitternacht erreichte, dauerte es laut Polizei bis in die Morgenstunden, bis alle zuvor abgebauten Schilder und Ampeln wieder montiert waren.

Reaktor soll bis Ende Juni in Betrieb gehen

Den neuen Reaktor will die BASF im Lauf des zweiten Quartals 2018 in Betrieb nehmen. Mit ihm will das Unternehmen die erhoffte Jahresproduktion von 300.000 Tonnen TDI erreichen. TDI ist ein Ausgangsstoff zur Herstellung von Polyurethan-Schäumen, die unter anderem zur Matratzenherstellung verwendet werden.

During the night from Thursday to Friday, heavy-load transport delivered the new reactor for BASF’s TDI plant in Ludwigshafen. While the transport reached the factory with all parts until midnight, according to police, it took until the early hours until all previously dismantled signs and traffic lights were reinstalled.
Reactor is scheduled to go into operation by the end of June

BASF intends to commission the new reactor in the second quarter of 2018. With it, the company wants to achieve the hoped-for annual production of 300,000 tonnes of TDI. TDI is a starting material for the production of polyurethane foams, which are used, among other things, for mattress production.
