ERA Polymers Celebrates 35 Years

Era Polymers: 35th anniversary

The Australian independent polyurethane systems house Era Polymers Pty Ltd with head office in Sydney announced that it is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2021. According to the company, in 1986 George Papamanuel had the dream of owning his own polyurethane business. With the support of his wife Tina Papamanuel, hard work and determination, he realised that dream. George’s business started off small in his garage and he was always pinching Tina’s cooking utensils and crockery to test product.

Today, 35 years later, Era Polymers is one of the largest suppliers of prepolymers in Asia, operates six state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and United States) and exports to over 86 countries. However, the company is still very much a family affair with Alex, Francene, Nicole and Shannon all working in the business, said Era Polymers. The company’s polyurethane solutions comprise, amongst others, one of the most diverse ranges of cast elastomer prepolymers, spray polyurethane and polyurea’s, rigid and flexible foam systems, rubber binders and timber floor coatings.

Despite this growth and achievement George Papamanuel has always remained true to the business philosophy: “Business is people doing business with people”.While Era Polymers offers a global reach, the company said it remains important that its customers get great service locally.

Future Foam Inc. has plans to renovate and occupy a 341,840-square-foot warehouse in Garland, which has been vacant since 2015.

The Iowa-based manufacturer, which specializes in polyurethane foam products, plans to spend nearly $3 million to renovate the existing warehouse at 3000 W. Kingsley Road. It has been vacant since APEX Tool Group consolidated its operations from Garland to South Carolina, resulting in the loss of 261 jobs.

Future Foam expects to create 104 full time jobs over the next few years. The company also intends to reactivate rail service to the facility. https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d1276.4432975226807!2d-96.67642942035278!3d32.877770737221695!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x864ea0c7c22d0f4b%3A0x53abbe17f1ccf2c7!2s3000%20W%20Kingsley%20Rd%2C%20Garland%2C%20TX%2075041!5e1!3m2!1sen!2sus!4v1621700319902!5m2!1sen!2sus

“Future Foam is excited to announce the expansion of manufacturing operations into Garland, which is advantageous for its strategic location and manufacturing resources. We are happy to work together with the city of Garland in a mutually beneficial partnership,” said Patrick Medinger, Future Foam CFO, in a prepared statement. “Future Foam is a family-owned company that has been in operation since 1958. We focus on bringing the highest quality products through innovative, customer driven solutions.”

The company already operates two other facilities in Northwest Dallas, along with some 30 other facilities in 18 states and international facilities in Germany and China.

Dallas-based FB Flurry, a privately owned fulfillment and technology company, will soon be joining Future Foam in Garland. Last week the company announced it would be taking 472,200 square feet at 3737 W. Miller Road, the largest lease signed in the Garland/Northeast Dallas submarket since the start of the year.

Bio Butanediol Project

Bio-BDO venture by Cargill and Helm

9 June 2021 – 0 Submitted by Andrew Warmington

Agribusiness giant Cargill and German chemical marketing and distribution firm Helm have formed a joint venture called Qore and will invest $300 million to build the first commercial-scale, renewable 1,4-butanediol (BDO) facility in the US. This will be located at Cargill’s biotechnology campus and corn refining operation in Eddyville, Iowa, and should be in operation in 2024.

Qore has licensed Genomatica’s BDO process technology and is using Cargill’s global feedstock supply and fermentation manufacturing expertise to produce at least 65,000 tonnes/year, under the brand name Qira. Helm will work with brand owners, OEMs and their suppliers to incorporate Qira into their products.

Qira is made via the fermentation of plant-based sugars and it is claimed, can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 93% compared to the manufacture of the same chemical intermediates from fossil sources. Applications include fibres, biodegradable plastics, polyurethane coatings, sealants and artificial leathers.
