11 March 2019

chemroy

Azelis is delighted to announce it has acquired Chemroy, a Canadian distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients.
Highlights & rationale
• The transaction will place Azelis as one of Canada’s leading specialty distributors with a strong position in the CASE (coatings, adhesives, construction and ink), food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and personal care segments.
• Chemroy is complementary to Azelis in terms of markets served, principal relationships and product offering.
• Azelis has well established relationships with the majority of Chemroy’s principals.

The transaction sees Azelis acquire 100% of Chemroy Canada Holdings Inc. Chemroy was founded in 1967 and has 59 employees. Headquartered in Brampton, Ontario, Chemroy offers warehousing across Canada and has further offices in Laval, Quebec and Vancouver, British Colombia.

Commenting on the announcement, Frank Bergonzi, CEO and President Azelis Americas, says: “This transaction is an important milestone for Azelis in the Americas. Chemroy is a leading distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients in Canada, with an excellent reputation. We share similar values and culture, and this combination will ensure a more robust product portfolio to our customers.”

Hans Joachim Müller, Group CEO Azelis, adds: “With the acquisition of Chemroy, we establish a strong footprint in Canada. This is an excellent strategic fit and we are excited by the opportunity for further growth, in both Canada and the US. Chemroy’s activities in the food and nutraceutical markets will allow us to expand this segment, by leveraging our relationships with global partners.”

John Graham, President at Chemroy, concludes: “We are confident in the success of this acquisition, which is an exciting opportunity for our employees to join forces with an established global player in Azelis. We share similar strategies and culture and I am confident that Chemroy will continue to thrive under its new ownership.”

The acquisition of Chemroy illustrates the support provided by EQT since the initial acquisition of Azelis. EQT is confident that the expanded range of services and global reach provided by this acquisition will continue to bring benefits to customers and principals of the combined group.

MDI Exposure Incident at Amesbury Truth

Two chemical leak patients still in critical, but stable, condition

Airways are obstructed with the lung-attacking MDI chemical

HENRIETTA, NY (WROC) – From the five who were treated yesterday, two victims from the MDI chemical leak are in critical, but stable condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. Both are demolition workers who were tearing down sections of the old Amesbury Truth building at Eagle’s Landing on Jefferson Road. They are Andrew Corbin, 31 and Steve Fousse, 19.

Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate is a chemical that attacks the lungs, and they are experiencing airway burns according to Henrietta Assistant Fire Chief Mark Cholach. The other victims treated and released either on-scene or at Strong, all demolition workers are:

  • Matthew Roberts, 45 of Fairport
  • Tim McCarty, 58, of Boonville, IN
  • Byron Lewis, 27 of Byron

Cholach says, “They had four 5,000 gallon tanks, two MDI, two of another chemical. And what happened is during the demolition process, they were actually disassembling those tanks.”

Cholach adds yesterday’s HAZMAT event was anything but typical. “But to go into a situation where we actually have multiple people down when we pull up, that’s defiantly out of the norm. And everyone’s senses are a little but heightened because what are our crews going to be walking into in that type of a situation? There’s no such thing as the mundane anymore you have to expect for the worst and hope for the best.”

Hexion Introduces New Aerospace Epoxy

Hexion Introduces Two-Component Epoxy Solution for Aerospace Composites Production

Published: Mar 12, 2019 12:59 a.m. ET

Complete system of resin, curing agent, metering and mixing equipment and analytical control increases manufacturing efficiency while maintaining part mechanical performance

To relieve production constraints for aerospace composites while maintaining the highest level of performance in finished parts, Hexion Inc. (“Hexion” or the “Company”) is launching a first-of-its-kind, two-component epoxy manufacturing solution at JEC World in Paris, March 12 through 14.

The solution is based on Hexion’s EPIKOTE system 600-2 Part A (resin) and Part B (curing agent) and utilizes a metering and mixing unit from Hübers, a leader in casting and impregnating mixing technology. Hexion has developed in-line analytic control for the unit for efficient and accurate control of the dosing of the epoxy raw materials before the mixture is infused into a mould.

“To meet the aerospace industry’s strict performance requirements, epoxy composites have typically been produced by Resin Transfer Moulding or by Infusion with closely controlled one-part systems, which have required cold transport and storage in small pails because of their inherent reactivity,” says Jean Rivière, Epoxy Global Aerospace Segment leader at Hexion. “The increasing use of composites across a range of structural aerospace applications has placed considerable pressure on this manufacturing approach. Hexion’s new two-component solution is designed to address this challenge, while delivering the highest quality finished parts.”

Technical specialists will be on hand to discuss the new technology at the Hexion stand, booth #G52 at the JEC World 2019 exposition, March 12 to 14 in Paris.

About the Company

Based in Columbus, Ohio, Hexion Inc. is a global leader in thermoset resins. Hexion Inc. serves the global wood and industrial markets through a broad range of thermoset technologies, specialty products and technical support for customers in a diverse range of applications and industries.
