Mattress Firm Names Lorie Silva Chief Merchandising Officer

HOUSTON, May 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Mattress Firm, the nation’s largest specialty mattress retailer, today announced that Lorie Silva has been hired as the Company’s chief merchandising officer (CMO). In her new role as CMO, Silva will be responsible for the merchandising strategy and ecosystem driving sales to ensure Mattress Firm has a curated selection of leading brands.

“Lorie is a proven groundbreaker who led successful merchandising and retail efforts at Jordan’s Furniture. She has a keen understanding of what it takes for a product to sell – from identifying consumer needs to educating associates to communicating product benefits,” said Steve Stagner, executive chairman, president and CEO of Mattress Firm. “We’re excited to have Lorie join the Mattress Firm team and support our vision of being consumers’ preferred choice for better sleep.”

Silva previously held the role of Director of Bedding Operations for Jordan’s Furniture, where she was responsible for the entire operation of bedding, including sourcing, sales, training and retail experience with strong ties to customer service, operations and logistics.

An industry veteran with nearly 27 years of experience, Silva’s background is in the business of sleep; she started as a sales associate (Sleep Technician), took on increasing responsibility and helped transform the bedding category at Jordan’s Furniture.

PMA Recognizes Dave Welch

Highlights from the PMA!

 

David Welch (also known as Polyuman), a longtime member of the PMA and of Everchem Specialty Chemicals, received a career award at the recent meeting in Naples, FL.  He retired last year.

 

Dave received the Distinguished Service Award at the 2018 PMA Meeting. He is flanked by PMA President, Linda Katz and Advocacy Chair, Steve Seneker.

Also receiving the Distinguished Service Award this year was Vincent Gajewski from COIM. Congratulations to both gentlemen!

Pat D. Dawson, is Executive Vice President of Olin Corporation and President, Epoxy and Olin International. In October 2015, Pat D. Dawson was appointed Executive Vice President of Olin Corporation and President, Epoxy and Olin International. From July of 2013 through the transaction close with Olin, Mr. Dawson led The Dow Chemical Company’s Global Epoxy Business, driving corporate projects in support of growth investments and global corporate strategies.
Mr. Dawson began his career in 1980 with Dow. He was Business Vice President for the Oxide Derivatives global business unit in 2000. From 2004 to 2009, he served as Group President for Dow’s Polyurethanes Business. In 2009 through mid-2013, he served as the President of Dow Asia Pacific, overseeing operations in 12 countries, with sales of $10.2 billion in 2012.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in agronomy and a Master’s in agricultural economics/management from Purdue. He has served on the boards of Siam Cement JV in Thailand and Society of Chemical Industry. A proud father of five, Mr. Dawson enjoys skiing and traveling. He and his wife live in Clayton, Missouri.
